Make ready your shears, awls, anvils, brushes, pots, pens and other tools for the annual Arts and Sciences competition. Let us show the world the skill of our populace that they may bask in the light of the Gem of Atenveldt! In addition to the glory of the competition the event will include youth activities, an artisan’s showcase for works in progress or undocumented projects, a basket auction and glorious tourneys! Once more terror is cast upon the College of St. Felix! Our malicious overlord, Sir Sable, has rallied from his victory over a year ago and sends forth a challenge to all the fighters of Atenveldt who would dare to see St. Felix free of his iron grip. The gates of his fortress were assailed last year and he held off the forces of Tir Ysgithr between bouts of evil laughter at the fate of the College’s students.

Though his malicious right hand, Rogue Noir, was brought down during the assault Sir Sable is not without allies in the rapier community and has purchased the services of a new Rogue Noir to accost what sword slingers would dare to venture through the garden maze of his castle.

In a shocking twist he has even turned to the brain washing of the young men and women of the kingdom, those who aspire to the greatness of the Chivalry, and will see his Sable Minion tested against any youth fighter fit for war and brazen in spirit!

He hungers for battle and expects the armies of Atenveldt, fresh from the revelries of their new Prince’s Coronation, to meet the toss of his gauntlet with their own ferocity.

Such efforts will not go unrewarded! Though we of the College are oppressed we are not without grace and skilled craftsmanship. Since this is a challenge Sir Sable has commissioned a fine reward for the victors, whether they be his own champions or Atenveldt’s finest bringing down his dark reign! For the victor of this tournament shall be gifted a fine leather mask, fit for masquerade or revel, in the style of the dark lord himself! Sir Sable wishes you all luck in your endeavors. It’s the only thing that will see you through the challenges he intends to offer forward.

More information about the intricacies of the tournament will be revealed as we lead up to it. As of now Hardsuit, Rapier, and Youth fighters can expect several rounds of interesting scenarios that will test your ability to survive more than your ability to kill. But survival brings with it the chance to acquire one of the finely crafted masks.

We welcome the youth to participate in the A&S competition, Sable Minion tourney, as well as other activities under the shade of the Piglet pavilion. Bring the entire family to enjoy the day’s festivities.

From North or South on I-10: Take exit 250 toward Orange Grove Rd. Turn east onto Orange Grove Road. Turn right onto Camino De La Tierra. The school’s parking lot will be n the left.

Site Fee: $6 for members, $11 for non-members, $2 for youth aged 17-5, and youth under 5 are free.

Site Opens at 9:00 am – Closes at 5:00 pm.

SITE IS DRY – The Brewing Category will be held off-site nearby.

Service pets on leashes are welcome. Shade and drinking water will be available. You are also welcome to set up your pavilions for additional shade.

The festivities will take place on Sunday April 29th, 2012. There will be a little something for everyone on this day, as the skilled and wily rapier fighters cross blades to see who will become the Champion and Protector of the Gruesome Gawdawful Goblet, the youth vie for the Gaudy Goblet, and the artisans display their Awful Artworks. There will also be sustenance provided for those who become faint at the prospect of so much awfulness, as the College of St. Felix will offer tasty burgers and dogs in exchange for donations to fill their coffers, and if that is not enough, the archers of Tir Ysgithr will also offer a little something sweet to help us overcome the sight of these terrible relics and accompanying artisan display by holding a bake sale.

Directions: From the north, take I-10 to the Speedway exit, proceed east and turn right at Treat Ave. one block past Tucson Blvd. From the south, take I-10 to the Alvernon exit, proceed north, and turn left on Speedway, then proceed west and turn left at Treat Ave, past Country Club. The park is one block south of Speedway, just past the library. Parking is available on the street or in the parking lot to the west of the library. Please do not drive on the grass during set up and tear down.

Shade and water are available. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and the owner cleans up after them. Children’s activities are planned, and there is also playground equipment nearby where parents may take their children.

Barony of Tir Ysgithr Land Map 2012

Estrella War is fast approaching and we are looking forward to seeing everyone who would like to camp with the barony do so.

1) Pre-Reg, if you can, by February 17th:

We encourage all who can afford to pre-reg to do so before the 17th to help with the baronial numbers for land allotment.

Remember, this year land is based upon the number of pre-reg’d individuals for the barony and a small allotment for those that are on lists with us who have not pre-reg’d.

Households:

We encourage all household heads to please talk with their members and get the pre-reg’s in if you can.

Families or Individuals

If you are camping by yourself or just with your family, Welcome!

We encourage you to pre-reg as well, every person counts literally for land.

Please Note: When you register please select the Kingdom of Atenveldt for “Kingdom you are camping with” and BTY for “the group you are camping with”. This will help the kingdom land coordinator know you are camping with the Barony.

2) Fill out the on the Baronial Website , by Feb 17th, with the following information:

• Household (or Family or Individual Name)
• Number of People Camping
• Names of those Camping
• Contact information for the person filling out the form (email/phone number)
• Any additional information like if you want a quiet camp area or need handicap assistance etc.
