Meeting ID: 849 6057 8751
Are you going to the A&S Faire? Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. Remember me, to the B&B, for A&S is a noble pastime!
A VIRTUAL A&S FAIRE and COMPETITION
Their Excellencies look forward to seeing all of Their Barony enjoy a day of Arts and Sciences in the Gem of Atenveldt!
Baron Ruan and Baroness Thyra wish to see you display those items you have made in which you have a passion; those items you have created that bring you joy; those items you are in progress working on that you are willing to share with your fellow baronial artisans and scientists.
This event is taking place in a virtual format due to our continued effort to enjoy A&S pursuits in the SCA safely during the public health emergency related to COVID-19.
Given the limitations of this format, the tasting aspects of culinary and brewing entries and the Household Champion will not be included in this event. Please see the competition rules for greater details.
HOW DO I LOOK on ZOOM?
Our participants are encouraged to wear garb and appear by video connection on Zoom. Of course, one does not have to appear by video if they do not wish to, as there is a default blank screen that is available if you turn off your video connection.
HOW DO I SOUND on ZOOM?
The default will be for everyone to keep their microphone on mute. When having champion evaluations and performing arts, we ask that only the entrant and the judge panel have mikes on. There is a CHAT feature on Zoom that everyone may use to text comments and questions either to a specific individual or to the group in the Room. We encourage folks use Chat and common courtesy when speaking by audio.
WHERE MAY I SEE ENTRIES AND ENTRANTS?
We will have:
A Populace hang out Zoom Room (for socializing and arts chat)
A Champion and Performing Arts Zoom Room (Per schedule and for judging)
As Many other Zoom Rooms as needed. (For individuals to display their A&S and discuss with all who show interest)
There will be two (2) ways to display your art:
1) an on-line photo gallery (the gallery can be accessed here) and 2) by Zoom the day of the event.
We encourage folks to use both venues, if possible.
PHOTO GALLERY DISPLAY
Each participant may post photos to show their completed works and their works in progress. The photos will accompany your documentation and be available for everyone to view.
Please contact Mistress Magdalen or Lady Emma for information on how to upload your images and documentation.
Each entrant may set up their items wherever they are comfortable – at your home workshop, home office, back yard or with a virtual backdrop castle or other scene appropriate to the Pre-17th century.
Performing Arts and Demonstrations will have a time schedule set up so that each performer will know when to be prepared to display.
NO CATEGORIES DESIGNATED
There are NO specific categories defined, but if entrants want, they may look to the Kingdom A&S Category list to get ideas – if one needs a place to start.
BARONIAL A&S COMPETITION
Their Excellencies shall select their A&S Champion for this year from among those artisans and scientists who display their artworks and science projects at the A&S Faire.
All Masters and Mistresses of the Laurel are encouraged to attend to view the up-and-coming artisans of our Barony and discuss their works with them.
Their Excellencies will seek counsel from the attending members of the Laurel as They examine all the A&S displays. Our Laurels are welcome to display their own works as well, be they masterworks or new endeavors.
The Household Champion Competiton will take place at our upcoming Dragons Horde in the Fall.
Competition Rules for Baronial and Household Champion are available from the pen of Lady Emma who is our A&S minister, and are available in the May Tusker and a Special A&S Issue of the Tusker Times Baronial Newsletter.
YOUTH AND CHILDREN (17 and under)
Their Excellencies wish to see even the youngest of their subjects display their arts and sciences. Parents are encouraged to help their heirs participate in the A&S Faire.
BARONIAL COURT at A&S
Their Excellencies Ruan and Thyra will hold a brief Opening/Welcome Court at 9:00 a.m. on Zoom and Facebook Live.
At 4:00 pm a Closing/Afternoon Court will occur and Their Excellencies will announce Their Champion also on Zoom and Facebook Live.
MOMENTS TO REST DURING THE DAY
Throughout the day there will be short breaks every two hours and a longer lunch break near midday.
We want folks to be able to break away as needed but not miss out on the wonderful entries and conversations during the day.
As we are virtual, we recommend you follow your own house rules and practice courtesy and grace when interacting via Zoom.A&S Minister: Lady Emma Wheeler of SommersetEvent Steward: Mistress Magdalen Venturosa – magdalen67 @gmail.com and Monique Berry Lyon on Facebook.
